  1. Diegetic / Nondiegetic:

    • Diegetic: Sounds that originate from the story world, heard by characters.
    • Nondiegetic: Sounds that come from outside the story world, not heard by characters.
  2. Synchronous:

    • Sound events that match the timing of the actions in the film.
  3. Sound Effects:

    • Auditory enhancements to convey specific sounds in a scene.
  4. Sound Motif:

    • Audio element associated with a character or event, providing thematic continuity.
  5. Sound Bridge / Audio Match Cut:

    • Transition where the sound from one scene carries into the next.
  6. Dialogue:

    • Verbal communication between characters.
  7. Voiceover:

    • Narration or commentary added in post-production.
  8. Mode of Address / Direct Address:

    • When a character acknowledges the audience, breaking the fourth wall.
  9. Sound Mixing:

    • The process of combining and adjusting different audio elements.
  10. Sound Perspective:

    • Indicates the proximity and direction of sounds in relation to the camera or audience.
  11. Sound Track:

    • Includes songs used in a film.
  12. Score:

    • All the music created for a film, including the background music.
  13. Incidental Music:

    • Music created to fit the situation or scene.
  14. Theme:

    • A recurring musical composition associated with a specific character, event, or emotion.
  15. Stings:

    • Short, funny sounds played for a dramatic effect.
  16. Ambient Sound:
