Sound

 Sound:

Sound in films is a powerful aesthetic tool, shaping the emotional tone and immersive experience. It adds depth to visuals, enhancing the storytelling by evoking emotions, establishing atmosphere, and guiding audience perception. Whether through music, ambient sounds, or dialogue, sound elevates the cinematic experience, creating a multisensory narrative tapestry.

Today, we were taught that there are two types of sounds we can hear in movies, dramas, etc.

Diegetic Sound and Non Deigetic Sounds:

Diegetic sounds are those that exist within the world of the story, and the characters within the narrative can hear them. These include a person playing the piano, we hear the piano music.

Nondiegetic sounds are external to the story world and are not audible to the characters. These sounds are typically added in post-production for the audience's benefit. These include piano music playing but the characters are not aware of that sound.
