Composition in visual arts, including photography and graphic design, involves arranging elements within a frame to create a visually appealing and meaningful image. Two essential components of composition are positive space and negative space.

Positive space refers to the main subject or focus of the composition. It's the area that actively draws the viewer's attention.

Negative space, sometimes called white space, is the empty or open area around the main subject. It complements the positive space and helps define its boundaries.

Rule of Thirds:

The Rule of Thirds is a compositional guideline used in visual arts, including photography and design. It involves mentally dividing an image into a grid of nine equal parts, created by two horizontal and two vertical lines. The four points where these lines intersect are crucial focal points. The rule suggests placing key elements, such as the main subject or points of interest, along these lines or at their intersections. This arrangement adds balance, visual interest, and a natural flow to the composition, steering away from placing subjects directly in the center, which may seem static. The Rule of Thirds is a versatile tool that photographers and artists use to create dynamic and aesthetically pleasing visuals, guiding the viewer's gaze and enhancing overall composition.
